Position Overview

Substitute Teachers at Trinity School are inquisitive, nurturing, fun loving, flexible, and creative.  They model lifelong learning for their colleagues and students.  The Substitute Teacher is responsible for assuming teaching responsibilities in the classoom when the Lead Teacher or the Assistant Teacher is absent.  They must fulfill all of his/her responsibilities in accordance with the mission and philosophy of the School.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree   Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education preferred
  • Georgia State Teaching Certificate/License or equivalent a plus

Essential Requirements, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the implementation of the daily program 
  • Models appropriate behavior for students 
  • Understands and supports developmental benchmarks academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally
  • Has ease in using technology instructionally, with an understanding of Apple products, interactive whiteboards,  and Microsoft products; understands responsible digital citizenship
  • Adheres to Confidentiality Agreement
  • Collaborates with colleagues and staff to support the school community
  • Communicates proficiently in oral and written forms
  • Participates in associated duties such as carpool, lunch, and recess
  • Takes initiative to fulfill typical responsibilities and demonstrate willingness to problem solve atypical situations

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, feel/climb or balance.  The employee may at times need to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Work Hours

  • Possible days and hours are Mon-Fri, 7:40 AM to 3:15 PM
  • Half Day hours (5 hours or less) are available in some positions
  • Substitute is responsible for fullfilling all duties of the teacher, and could involve carpool which starts at 7:30 AM.  
  • Hours in the Extended Programs Division are also sometimes available, 2 PM - 6 PM

The postition of Substitute Teacher is not a Full Time or a Part Time position.  Instead it is considered temporaty work and is only available if the Full Time Employee is absent.  As such, the Substitute Teacher can decline any offer to work, but once a committment is made, he/she must show up on time and work the agreed upon hours.
